Liberty Square, in the central-southern region of Belo Horizonte, was the stage for an extraordinary event on New Year’s Eve night, as it played host to approximately 30,000 people who gathered for a spectacular drone light show.
People from various parts of the city witnessed 420 drones take to the sky, starting the display with a New Year countdown and a greeting that wished everyone a Happy New Year!
The drones then formed a series of images in the sky that reflected the cultural essence of Minas Gerais: elements iconic to the Baroque style, local culinary delights such as cheese and coffee, and even architectural wonders by Niemeyer, like the Pampulha Church. They also paid homage to Milton Nascimento’s album “Geraes,” with its depiction of mountainous landscapes and train imagery.
