The hosts of the Global Champions Arabians Tour (GCAT) in Doha, Qatar, intended to amaze the festival visitors with some extraordinary experience. Lumasky stepped forward to elevate the event’s closing ceremony.
A Show of Precision and Passion
With just over 2 weeks to prepare, our team took on this exciting challenge. We aimed to create a drone light show that would dazzle the festival guests. Our goal was to seamlessly integrate the 1,500 drone display with the event’s music and pyrotechnics.
As a result, a flawless synchronization of light, sound, and fire left the crowd speechless for 12 minutes straight.
The creative idea reflected the rich culture and traditions of Doha, featuring custom animations of Arabian horses, GCAT branding, and cultural elements. Precision timing was key, as the drones had to dance in perfect harmony with the fireworks — all while adhering to strict safety measures compliant with local and international aviation regulations.
Flying Through Challenges
Strong winds, with gusts up to 10 m/s, tested our drones, which had to work harder to resist the gusts, consuming more battery.
We also lowered the flight zone from 50 to 30 meters. A thoroughly calculated move that paid off by bringing the show closer to the audience and creating a more immersive experience.
At Lumasky, we thrive on challenges, and this project was no exception. From battling the wind to perfecting the animations under tight deadlines, we proved again — no obstacle is too big when it comes to creating unforgettable experiences.
