When you need to stage a drone animation that flies between pyrotechnics, next to real airplanes, and directly under a live helicopter — that’s a Lumasky project. This was the exact challenge at the Sand & Fun – Saudi General Aviation Airshow 2025 at Thumamah Airport near Riyadh.
For the second year, we returned to this premier event for the Saudi Aviation Club. Over 5 consecutive days, a fleet of 2,000 drones, 100 pyro drones and flash drones performed high above the desert. The spectacle shared airspace with lasers, fireworks, and aircraft. This year’s unique feature was a helicopter on a 5-minute synchronized pyro run, which required us to make last-minute, precise adjustments to our flight patterns.
This drone show in Riyadh celebrated the synergy between human innovation and natural elements like fire and air. This technical showcase demonstrated the secure and precise integration of drones within a live aviation event, setting a new standard for such productions.
